INTRODUCTION TO THE AGAPE ATHLETICS CLUB AND OUR WEB SITE

A special welcome to visitors, and especially to our Agapé members making use of this media for the first time!

Agapé Athletics Club (AAC) serves both running and walking in and around Pretoria, South Africa. It was founded in 1987, so it is now 24 years old. In 2010 we have just under 220 members. It is a registered club under Athletics Gauteng North (the regional athletics association), one of more than 100 such clubs in and around Pretoria.

Our members are most visible in their striking red and blue colours (see banner photo at the top of every content page on this Web site), usually at races most Saturdays of the year and we take pride in ËœRunning for the Son"
(race flyers at http://www.raceresults.co.za/flyers.php )

Like other clubs, we meet at our blue Agape Gazebo at these events,
Blue Agapé Gazebo
where you are encouraged to come and talk to anyone you find there.

NAVIGATION

This AAC Web site is mainly navigated via the bar of MAIN NAVIGATION links at the TOP of each content Web page.

The MEMBERS main navigation category is resticted to ONLY Agapé members, but all the others are open to the general public.

This MAIN NAVIGATION bar remains permanently visible at the TOP of every content page on this Website, (while the content of each page scrolls below it).

Each of the MAIN NAVIGATION category options links to a set of related category pages (sub-sites), with SUB-NAVIGATION for those pages mainly down the LEFT side of each CATEGORY Web page.

Generally, ANNOUNCEMENTS appear on the RIGHT of most pages.

There are a few SUB-NAVIGATION option sub-categories which have further sub-sub-categories. For these, navigation to such sub-sub categories appear in place of announcements on the RIGHT of such pages.

There is also a fixed FUNCTIONAL Menu Bar that also remains permanently available at the BOTTOM of each content page (while content scrolls above it).

The content of each of the public sub-sites linked to from the MAIN NAVIGATION is described on their respective HOME entry pages.

ABOUT US

This is the HOME page of the ABOUT US section of this Website, so, it serves the dual purpose of introducing not only the ABOUT US section, but also the Agapé Website as a whole.

Obviously, this ABOUT US section is intended to communicate some important information about our club and what it stands for - as can be seen from the SUB-NAVIGATION options on the LEFT of this page.

ABOUT THE AGAPÉ WEB SITE AND OUR USE OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA

Concerning the AAC Web site as a whole, it is intended to serve as the "centre-pivot" of our Club's use of electronic media, being our primary public media interface.

Three other forms of electronic media are notable:

  1. Weekly e-mail newsletter "THIS 'n THAT" - edited and distributed by Ken Nurden to a broad audience (beyond members) for those who request it. Examples (current and previous) can be found on this website on the NEWSLETTERS page
  2. Our own Agapé Athletics Club Facebook presence, which is a more inter-active forum for our membership and where particularly, amongst other forms of content, there are lots of recent PHOTOS.
  3. An Agapé Rietondale (suburb) Time-Trial (Agapé RTT email) Group which is open to anyone to visit and/or participate in, electronically and hopefully even physically at the actual Time Trial, without any obligation.

Should you have any comments, queries, suggestions or contributions about this Website please contact info@agape.org.za
